FACE-OFF FEVER: LOCAL HOCKEY
So hockey is in your young one's future, or perhaps they are actively
playing today. Either way, there's always questions, and always more to
learn.
USA HOCKEY
First and foremost, most organizations fall under the governance of USA
Hockey. Registration with USA Hockey is required for amateur
and school ice hockey. This registration gives you insurance coverage,
subscription to USA Hockey Magazine, and more. Registration is currently
$30.00 (2011), with another $5.00 to cover state affiliate fees. Complete
benefits are viewable at USAHocky.com at: https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/images/Benefits.pdf
You only pay USA Hockey registation once per year, regardless
of how many teams you play on at one time, or how many you play for over
the course of that year. This registration is also required for entrance
into certain tournaments. If you lose or misplace your registration,
it can always be recovered quickly on USA Hockey's web site at:

NEXT STEPS
Next step: what type of hockey play are you interested in?
- School Hockey (developmental, freshmen
grades 6-8, junior varsity grade 9-10 or varsity grades 11-12)
- Amateur/Competetive Hockey (most ice facilities
have organized teams that play out of that facility, based on age and
skill level)
